FAQs
Quick answers to the most common questions about the LiveMentions MCP server.
What is the LiveMentions MCP server?
It's a way to connect LiveMentions directly to AI tools like Claude, Cursor, and n8n using the Model Context Protocol (MCP), an open standard. Once connected, your AI assistant can look up your brand's AI-visibility data and make a few safe changes on your behalf, without you opening the LiveMentions dashboard.
What can I do with the MCP server?
You can ask your AI assistant to pull visibility reports, see your tracked prompts and their latest AI answers, check which sources get cited, see which websites leave your brand out of AI answers, check which AI crawlers your robots.txt lets in, compare yourself against competitors, read your Brand Context, and get ranked recommendations for improving your AI visibility. It can also pause or reactivate a tracked prompt, rename a topic, or mark a competitor as tracked. It can't create new topics or prompts, that still happens in the dashboard.
Which tools does it work with?
Any AI tool that supports MCP over a remote HTTP connection, including Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Cursor, and n8n. New MCP-compatible tools are added by AI companies regularly, and LiveMentions works with any of them the same way.
How do I set it up?
Create a personal access token from Settings, then MCP / API, in your LiveMentions dashboard, then add the server URL and your token to your AI tool's MCP configuration. Full steps for each tool are in the docs.
Who has access to MCP?
Any account on an active, paid LiveMentions plan. It's not available during a free trial or on beta access.
What do I need to get started?
