Prompts: the questions LiveMentions asks AI

A prompt is a specific question that LiveMentions periodically asks AI models on your behalf, then records and analyzes the answer. Prompts are where the actual tracking happens. Everything else, topics, the dashboard, insights, is built from prompt results.

Adding a prompt

  1. Go to Prompts, or open a topic, and click Add Prompt.
  2. Choose the topic it belongs to.
  3. Write the prompt text. Phrase it the way a real person would ask an AI assistant.
  4. Choose a location, if you want to check a specific market.
  5. Click Add.

Which AI models a prompt runs on is determined automatically by your plan. You do not choose this per prompt. See How tracking works for details on which models run and how often.

Editing a prompt

You can update the prompt text and its status, Active, Inactive, Pending, or Archived, at any time. Only active prompts are tracked going forward.

The prompt detail page

Click into any prompt to see:

  • Summary strip. The prompt text, tracked models, whether your brand appeared, location, and status.
  • Model tabs. If the prompt runs on more than one AI provider, switch between them to see each answer separately.
  • AI Answer. The actual, real text the AI model returned the last time this prompt ran.
  • Visibility Score chart. How this prompt score has moved over time.
  • Framing. A breakdown of how the AI positioned your brand in its answer. See Sentiment and framing explained.
  • Brands. Every competitor mentioned alongside you in this prompt answers, with their position and visibility.
  • Citations. Every source link the AI included in its answer, paginated.

This is the best place to see exactly why a prompt is scoring the way it is. You are reading the real AI output, not just a number.
