Understanding Optimize pillars
Optimize organizes its checks into seven categories, called pillars. Here is what each one actually looks at.

Technical Access
Can AI crawlers even reach and read your site? This checks whether your robots.txt blocks AI specific search bots, like the ones used by OpenAI, Claude, or Perplexity search crawlers, distinct from general training crawlers, whether you have a sitemap, whether you have an llms.txt file, and whether key content only appears after JavaScript runs. Many AI crawlers do not execute JavaScript, so they may see much less than a human visitor does.
Example finding: Your robots.txt currently blocks PerplexityBot. This is an AI search crawler. Blocking it means your pages cannot be found when this engine answers questions live.
Trust Signals
Does your site clearly establish who you are? This checks for HTTPS, structured data such as Organization or LocalBusiness markup that tells AI systems who you are in a machine readable way, and whether About and Contact pages are easy to find.
Example finding: No Organization structured data was found. This is one of the most load bearing signals for how AI systems establish your identity, and it is typically a one time fix in your site template.
Content Substance
Does your page content actually give AI something worth citing, real sources, statistics, and specifics, rather than generic filler?
Community Presence
Is there genuine discussion of your brand happening on Reddit? AI answer engines increasingly treat Reddit as a signal of real, independent user opinion.
Listings
Is your brand listed on the review and directory platforms relevant to your category?
Backlinks
Opportunities to earn links and mentions from other relevant sites, surfaced as a backlog of guest post and resource pitch ideas rather than a pass or fail check.
Video
Do you have a real presence on YouTube? Video content is another surface AI systems can draw on.
How findings are prioritized
Every recommendation is scored by its likely impact, LiveMentions confidence in that finding, and how much effort it would take to fix, so the highest value, easiest wins tend to surface first.
