Attaching a file to a question

Attach a file and ask about it: summarize it, find a number, total a column, pull out who is doing what.

How to attach a file

Choose + in the question box, then Add a file, pick the file, type your question and send. The file shows above the box and next to your question.

Which files work

  • Text (.txt), Markdown (.md) and CSV (.csv).
  • Up to 200 KB, one file per question.
  • UTF-8 text. A file that is not readable text, or is larger than the limit, is turned down with a short message.

What you get

  • Answers that start with From your file:, so file figures are never mixed up with your LiveMentions data.
  • For CSV files, totals, averages, smallest and largest values are calculated for every number column, so they are exact.
  • Follow-up questions in the same chat keep using the file, so you can ask "and the average of the orders column?" without attaching it again.
  • Questions about both can be asked in two parts, for example the file's totals and your own visibility.

Credits and storage

A question about a file uses 1 extra credit. The file's text stays with the chat for 30 days, then it is removed (the chat keeps the file's name). Deleting the chat deletes the file text with it. The original file is never stored.

What Saba does with the file's contents

Saba reads a file as information only. If a file contains instructions or links, Saba does not follow them and does not repeat addresses from it.
